Setting Up the Power Prosecutor Plugin

June 25, 2024
Instructions Get the Plugin

To install the plugin in Microsoft Word®, navigate to the Add-ins section. The specific path to this section may vary depending on your version of Word®, but generally, you can find it under "Insert | Add-ins | Get Add-ins" menu, then select "Templates and Add-ins."

In the Add-ins window, click on "STORE" at the top. Use the search box to type "Black Hills". Locate the "PowerProsecutor+" plugin and click the corresponding ADD button to install it.

Invoking the Plugin

After installation, the "Black Hills AI PP" plugin will be accessible from the upper menu in Word®.

Click on it to display additional buttons in the ribbon bar.

You can then use these buttons to access features such as Automatic Shells. Your office action response shells will be available after you sign in with your account.

To sign in, click the "Sign In" button and enter your Black Hills AI portal credentials. These are the same credentials you use at https://portal.blackhillsip.com/. If you also use our generative AI tool named Otto, the credentials are identical. If you do not have an account, you can request one by clicking "Request Account" or by emailing support@blackhills.ai.

Office Action Response Shells

You can select available Office Action response shells from the "Application #" dropdown list. If no shells are available to you, please contact sales@blackhills.ai for assistance. We offer these shells at no cost to our docketing customers.  If you are not a docketing customer, we offer our shell service at a very reasonable cost, much less than any other vendor we are aware of in the marketplace.  Please reach out for a pricing quote.

Antecedent Basis and Other Claims Analysis

The "Analyze Claims" button offers features such as antecedent basis checking for claims. Currently, these features are optimized for Office Action response shells created by Black Hills AI, but we plan to expand them to work with claims and documents from other sources.

Electronic File Wrapper

By clicking the "Patent Documents" button, you can access the Electronic File Wrapper for matters from the Patent Center without needing to log in separately. A dropdown list will allow you to select an application serial number, which will then open a web browser to the file history.

Examiner Analytics

The Examiner Analytics feature is accessible via a dropdown list box after clicking the corresponding button. Selecting an application serial number will initiate a download of an examiner analytics report for the patent examiner assigned to that application. The report will be displayed in your web browser or found in your downloaded items folder, depending on your browser settings.
